The Daily Observer (Banjul)

Former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba is attracting interest from Premier League new boys West Brom.

Djemba-Djemba's current club, Odense, have allowed him to fly to England to hold talks with the Baggies. He has been withdrawn from their squad to face Randers tonight. Odense coach Lars Olsen said: "Eric will not be involved against Randers because we have allowed him to travel abroad.

It is for personal reasons which we cannot say more about." Albion are insisting there is work to be done before any possible deal can be struck for the 29-year-old and played down speculation that a medical is imminent.

Djemba-Djemba did not enjoy the greatest success in England after initially joining United seven years ago. He moved to Aston Villa after making only a handful of starts for the Red Devils in two seasons and found his opportunities similarly limited. The Cameroon player then had a brief loan spell with Burnley before joining Qatar SC and moving to Odense two years ago.
